Monday to Friday | Hub West | 3 to 6pm
The MPHS Youth Studio offers local youth a creative space and the technology to learn creative skills including; painting, film, photography, music, animation, robotics and graphic design. An emphasis on collaboration also helps teach members leadership, teamwork and provides opportunities to be involved in local events.
If you have an interest in any of what is on offer, or just curious to check it out, and are between the ages of 10 and 18, you can access the programmes offered through the Studio. All you have to do is contact us or come down. We would love to meet you and hear your ideas and support you in what you want to do.
Our Youth Studio has had a significant impact on enhancing the technical skills of young people over the many years we’ve been in operation, but just as important, those who go through our programmes at the studio, become part of a ‘club, a social and emotional community support network.
A large number of youth who have been through the programme have developed into leaders in the community and remain associated with HubWest. Some directly through volunteering or employed as casual staff with the studio and other programmes and activities run by MPHS. Our youth leaders who now run our holiday programmes were all once young members of Youth Studio.
We also know that there are still many youth in our community who are isolated and could benefit from the network and resource of community youth activators and leaders associated with MPHS organisation. This year we will be investing in youth initiatives by looking at how we can use our existing resources, asking youth so together we can co-design initiatives that are meaningful and relevant and will better support, connect and improve the health and wellbeing of youth.
